Neighbors Say Dog That Attacked Infant Is Aggressive

Haha. So I had to voice my opinion and left a comment on their page. This is what I wrote:

First off, this is very sad this had to happen. But I would like to know if the child was alone with the dog. No dog should EVER be alone with a child, I don’t care what breed. Second, the dog should not be labeled as “aggressive dog.” You know what you are doing? You are discriminating, ANY dog can be aggressive. Look up the statistics for how many times a cocker spaniel or different breed has bitten a child; you will be surprised. Third, the owners should have worked with the dog. The dog was giving them grief during a walk? You don’t take it back home, that’s just sending a message to the dog that it can do whatever it wants and can walk all over you. This should have not happened to the child OR the dog.

CBS4 was on hand as Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies took the American bulldog out of the home located in the 4700 block of Pine Road around noon on Tuesday.

The 1-year-old boy is listed in critical condition after being airlifted to The Children’s Hospital.

Folsom told CBS4 the couple tried to walk the dog in the past, but it became too aggressive.

  1. Wow. That’s really tragic. I remember about 20+ years ago, when a girl I actually grew up with had a baby….she left her infant on the bed, alone for ‘just a minute’ with the family dog in the room…that’s all it took…they guessed that the crying infant must have set the dog into a panic because the dog then attacked the crying infant and by the time the mother could get back into the room to the child the dog had killed the baby…it was just so terrible. I don’t know why people think they can leave an infant alone, period. In a car, on a bed, with a stranger, with the family pet. Why? Why do people do that? They seem to lose common sense, it would seem…terrible tragedy.
