Lilacs!! When I was growing up in the country we had a line of these in our backyard. Every spring the winds would blow (as they happen to do so here) and the scent would fill our house. And they don’t last very long, just a few weeks then you have to wait another year before you could smell the relaxing scent again.
So you could imagine how happy I was to find out that my new residence had some lilac bushes! š
Also, my mom informed me that they purchased a new lilac tree! Here is a shot from my mom’s tree!
I have found it is extremely difficult to replicate the lilac scent. So many products try but can never quite perfect it. Every so often I will find a product that makes me feel as if the real thing is near by and will purchase it, but that is few and far between.
I love lilac! The purple ones are my favorite. I love the smell. Yankee candle has a lilac scent one that smells really good āŗ
YES! The purple ones are my favorite too! Ooooo I will have to check it out! Thanks! š
Beautiful
Thank you! š
Such a beautiful smell. š
It’s heavenly. š Thanks for the visit!
They are a fav of mine also.
I’ve tried high and low for lilac scent… so far, no luck. š£
What a marvellous surprise! š I’m so happy for you that you have your own lilac scent in your back garden again š
I wrote this with you in mind!!
š
hahaha Thank you! š
Beautiful flowers! I think my favorite is crocuses. I always associate them with the beginning of spring.
I am not sure if I have ever seen those, I had to look them up. They somewhat remind me of tulips.
Yeah, they look a bit similar, but they’re smaller. They would always pop up under our magnolias right at the start of spring.
I LOVE lilacs and your pictures were amazing, I could almost smell them!
Thank you! š I’m glad I was able to capture them so much so that it brought memories to you. š Have a fabulous week!
I love lilacs but my next door neighbour has butchered her bush because of our trailer
Awwww
Lilacs are one of my favorites – and you are absolutely correct on replicating their smell. Sometimes, I will smell something that is close, but then an after-smell (is that a thing?) will linger and it won’t be right, or some small bit of the smell is off.
You are so right!! Either what lingers throws the smell off or something like that. I’m so happy that I am not the only person that thinks this! š Thanks for the visit!
I can smell them! Thank you so much for sharing š My grandma had lilacs outside her house when I was a little girl.
I’ve never had a pleasure of seeing a real lilac tree. Beautiful flowers! Now I am curious of about the real scent! Thank you for sharing!
Oh my gosh, you haven’t?!? You have no idea what you are missing! It smells kind of like lavender but much, much more mild. I hope someday you are able to find some! If I find a certain brand of a candle, lotion, perfume, etc. I will let you know! š
Yes please!!! š
To me, a home is not a home without lilacs (if one is living in a climate compatible with lilacs).
I agree! I absolutely hate not having any or not living by any. That is one thing that can make me forget about everything in life & completely live in that moment. š
OMG! These are my favorite! I wrote a children’s book called The Lilac Princess even! Your lilac picture is gorgeous!
Thank you! Hehe! š That is awesome, I will have to go on Amazon & check it out. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
You too!
